In-Store Promos That Actually Work: Converting Walk-Ins to WDF Clients

Walk-in customers are the heart of any self-serve laundromat. They already trust your facility and visit regularly—but many of them have never considered your Wash-Dry-Fold (WDF) service. The good news? A few well-placed in-store promotions can make all the difference. 

Here are five in-store promo tactics that have been proven to spark interest and turn self-serve users into WDF clients: 

  1. First-Time Discount Cards
    Create small, eye-catching cards offering $5 or $10 off a first WDF order. Hand them out to walk-ins at the change machine or detergent station. A tangible discount feels like a personal invitation and reduces hesitation.
  2. Countertop Signage That Educates
    Don’t just say “Try WDF”—show how it works. Include quick benefits like “We Fold So You Don’t Have To” or “Free Drying Included” on your signage. The clearer the value, the higher the interest.

  5. Loyalty Punch Cards
    Offer a simple punch card like “Buy 4 WDF Orders, Get 1 Free”. You can even combine it with your self-serve rewards, making it feel like a natural extension rather than a whole new service.
